Five outstanding leaders to receive honorary degrees at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Convocation
Five outstanding leaders will receive honorary degrees, and four graduates will deliver valedictory addresses over four Convocation ceremonies at the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú, May 14 to 17. Over 1,200 graduates comprise the Class of 2024.
Catherine Callbeck Centre for Entrepreneurship opens at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú
The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú launched its new student entrepreneurship hub at an official grand opening event today. Named in honour of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú’s former chancellor, the Catherine Callbeck Centre for Entrepreneurship was made possible through a $2.25 million gift from the River Philip Foundation, a contribution of $372,000 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and a further $372,000 from Innovation PEI (IPEI), and a $100,000 donation from the Credit Unions of PEI.

Paige Campbell, a Bachelor of Environmental Studies student at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú, is marking Earth Day, April 22, with a painting of species at risk on PEI.
Students in the Environmental Studies 4010 Public Scholars on Environmental Issues capstone course were given the choice to do a semester-long research project with a local community partner or a creative project.
The Honourable Diane Griffin installed as ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú’s tenth Chancellor
The Honourable Diane F. Griffin was installed as the tenth Chancellor of the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú during a ceremony held at the University on Friday, April 5. She was unanimously elected to the volunteer position earlier this year by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú’s Board of Governors.
As Chancellor, Griffin will preside over the University’s Convocation ceremonies each spring, conferring degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú researcher receives federal funding for project to build PEI’s resilience to climate change
Dr. Xander Wang, an associate professor with the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú School of Climate Change and Adaptation, has been awarded a total of $1.6 million to investigate ways to protect PEI from coastal erosion and to build Island communities’ resilience to climate change.
The project is supported with a $864,226 contribution previously announced through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA); $619,090 from the through its Innovation Fund; and $64,410 from ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú.

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú and Health PEI have released the findings of the health system capacity report (the Spindle report).
The Spindle Strategy Group was engaged by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú and Health PEI to understand and catalogue the health care system’s capacity to successfully integrate medical learners; to identify any gaps in infrastructure, human resources, policies and programs, systems, and structures; and to devise an evidence-based roadmap including necessary investments and timelines to address those gaps.
