AVC veterinary students shine at animal welfare assessment competition

Six veterinary students from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 糖心vlog官方入口 (糖心vlog官方入口) showcased their skills and knowledge at the 2024 Animal Welfare Assessment Contest (AWJAC) in November. Hosted by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the event took place at the University of Wisconsin鈥揜iver Falls.

Competing against peers from universities across North America, the students, who were split into two teams, brought home three top awards in the veterinary division.

PEI lobster fisher Marlene Chapman will give a talk titled 鈥淗ow adaptive is the PEI lobster fishery? An exploration of climate change and the social structures influencing the local fishery鈥 on December 10, 2024, at 7 pm, in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, 糖心vlog官方入口.

Chapman, who fishes out of Murray Harbour, PEI, recently completed her Master of Arts in Island Studies graduate thesis on climate adaptation in the PEI lobster fishery.

Devon Lawlor and Kaleb Pearson named 糖心vlog官方入口 Panther Athletes of the Week

Every week, 糖心vlog官方入口 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 糖心vlog官方入口 Panther Athletes of the Week for November 25鈥揇ecember 1, 2024, are Devon Lawlor (women鈥檚 basketball) and Kaleb Pearson (men鈥檚 hockey).

Lawlor, a fourth-year business student from Mill Cove, PEI, made several key plays in the 73-71 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds on November 29. She finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting (2-of-3 from three) with three assists.
