Join us in January for Robertson Library Movie Talks. Each week will highlight a timely movie available through the Library鈥檚 video collections. There will be a discussion after each movie led by an interdisciplinary panel of 糖心vlog官方入口 faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Our next documentary, UnSlut: A Documentary Film, 鈥渇eatures conversations with those who have experienced sexual shaming, including the family and friends of Rehtaeh Parsons鈥, and will be presented on Monday, January 29, Robertson Library LINC, Room 265, 7:00-9:00 pm. The panelists for UnSlut: A Documentary Film are Ann Braithwaite, PhD and Nia Phillips, PhD.

Information on the UnSlut Project is  Popcorn will be provided. Bring your lidded, non-alcoholic drink. Free admission. Everyone is welcome!

Date Change for Power Shutdown

There will be a power shutdown for Dalton Hall, Robertson Library, K.C. Irving Building, Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Duffy Science Centre, Cass Building, Chaplaincy Centre, Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall, Andrew Hall, Bernardine Hall and Blanchard Hall. The Shutdown is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 28 beginning at 6:00 am and is expected to take approximately 2 hours to complete.  Emergency power will not be affected.

This shutdown is necessary to complete work on the electrical transformer at the exterior of Dalton Hall as part of the on-going renovations for this building.

Please join us for our first Theology on Tap of 2018! Dr. David Sabapathy will speak on 鈥淭he Unexamined Life of Public Health.鈥 Presented by the SDU Institute of Christianity and Culture, 25 January 2018, at 7:00 pm in the Pourhouse at 189 Great George Street.

Staff and faculty are invited to join the 糖心vlog官方入口 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Basketball teams for Bell Let鈥檚 Talk Night, Saturday, January 27. The Panthers are hosting Cape Breton University. The women鈥檚 game starts at 6:00 pm. The men tip off at 8:00 pm.

Staff and faculty are entitled to two free tickets to Saturday鈥檚 game. Pick them up at Panther Central this week, or contact Leigh Read at lread@upei.ca

Announcing a new course-based Master's in Island Tourism at 糖心vlog官方入口, starting in August 2018. This is your opportunity to obtain a graduate degree in the expanding field of tourism, applied specifically to islands. Using primarily online courses for your convenience, this two-year program incorporates two work-study courses working directly with tourism organizations.

Scholarships and bursaries are available. Learn more about this exciting new degree program at two information sessions on Thursday, January 25, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, in Rm. 243 Don and Marion McDougall Hall. Join Jaclyn Borden, Learning Strategist, Accessibility Services, as she presents a 鈥淗辞飞-迟辞..鈥 for teaching students affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This presentation will give a brief overview of ASD and its impact on students' learning and success. It will provide practical tips for supporting the learning of students with ASD in different classroom scenarios such as class participation, group work, and assessments. 

This session will take place on January 31 at 1:00 pm in SDU Main Building, Faculty Lounge (Rm 201). Questions may be directed to Gerald Wandio, fdo@upei.ca

The Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies (CACS) calls for nominations for the Ted T. Aoki Award for Distinguished Service within the Field of Canadian Curriculum Studies. The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who have made major contributions through research, teaching, and/or professional service in the field of curriculum studies in Canada. Candidates must have made major contributions to the field of Canadian curriculum studies through scholarship and service over an extended period, usually at least ten years.
