Emergency First Aid Training is being held Tuesday, February 20 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The training cost is covered by 糖心vlog官方入口 for all faculty and staff. Students who require the training for on-campus employment will also have the training cost covered.

Resumania has been planned in conjunction with the 2018 Career and Summer Job Fair, taking place Wednesday March 7 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in McDougall Hall.

Once again 糖心vlog官方入口 will host 鈥淟et鈥檚 Listen鈥, 糖心vlog官方入口鈥檚 Mental Health Week Wrap-up event and we are looking for up to six members of the 糖心vlog官方入口 community (students, faculty and staff) who would be willing to share their personal and/or supportive experience with mental health.

You would be asked to speak for approximately 5 minutes in a safe listening and non-judgemental environment for all to listen to your story, then engage in small group discussions with the support of professional staff as co-facilitators. You will have the full support of a representative from the 糖心vlog官方入口 Counselling Services to prepare and work with you throughout the presentation.

Dorothy E. Smith is widely acknowledged as a major feminist thinker of our time, and perhaps best known for her development of Institutional Ethnography, a theory/methodology of discovery aimed at providing a sociology for, not of, people. Smith鈥檚 lecture will focus on the interface between her development of a critical sociology aimed at exploring and explicating governance in contemporary society and its roots in feminism.

Graduate students Kimberley MacDonald and Pradeepa Gunasena will present the next Environmental Sciences and Human Biology (ESC-HUB) seminars on Friday, February 16th at 12:30 in Duffy Science, Room 204.

Kimberley MacDonald (AHS-Nutrition): 鈥淏arriers Facing Prince Edward Island early years centres in implementing healthy eating guidelines鈥.

Pradeepa Gunasena (AHS-Kinesiology): Establishing the test-retest reliability of Contralateral Auditory Suppression of Transiently Evoked Otoacoustic Emmisions (CASTEOAE) in a cohort of normal individuals鈥.

The planning committee for 糖心vlog官方入口 Mental Health Week 2018 has been busy putting together a week of events and information sessions to bring our community together to share, learn, and celebrate our mental health and wellness; to help end the stigma and encourage conversation on this important topic.

If you would like to volunteer 1 - 3 hours of your time staffing an information booth and/or greeting people at sessions, we would love to have you. If interested,  and we will be in touch with you.

Do you have plans yet for the winter break? How about taking part in some interesting professional development? For two full days on February 20th and 21st, attend a workshop that focuses around the concept of practice teaching. A small group of peer instructors get together to teach short lessons in front of each other from a prepared lesson plan in order to gain feedback on their teaching in a low-stakes and collegial environment. Sessions will also be video-recorded and participants will be provided with a copy of their sessions for later review.

Co-sponsored by the E-Learning Office and the Faculty Development Office, the workshop is designed to help enhance the teaching effectiveness of new and/or experienced educators at 糖心vlog官方入口. Participants will also have the opportunity to work at the process of giving and receiving feedback. A light breakfast and coffee/snack breaks will be provided each day. Lunch is on your own. Island filmmaker/photographer Will Beckett brings his childhood fascination with prehistoric life to the SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge. Starting at 7:00 pm he will speak about the adventures behind his upcoming Web documentary series, Prehistoric PEI.

In recognition of the outstanding performance and dedication of our faculty and staff, a number of annual awards have been created to acknowledge their efforts and achievements. 

Up to 10 Presidential Awards of Merit for 糖心vlog官方入口 Faculty, Librarians and Clinical Veterinary Professionals and four Presidential Awards of Merit for 糖心vlog官方入口 Staff will be awarded in 2018. These awards will be presented during a Celebration of Colleagues to be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. 

Susan Connolly, Associate Vice-President, Human Resources & Legal, will lead the process and chair the committee to select award recipients.
