Shad Open Day Exhibits

This July fourty-seven exceptional high-school students from across Canada have been participating in the Shad enrichment program at 糖心vlog官方入口, where they have been exposed to exciting workshops, lectures and other activities related to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and entrepreneurship. The participants have also been working on a Design-Entrepreneurship project to devise a product or service addressing the question: 鈥淗ow might we help Canadians impactfully reduce our waste?鈥

From 2 to 4 pm on Thursday, July 25th, please join the Shad 糖心vlog官方入口 participants for their Open Day Exhibits in the foyer of the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, where they will showcase their accomplishments over the 26 days of the program, including their Design Entrepreneurship projects.

All are welcome.

of Imagining Anne: The Island Scrapbooks of L.M. Montgomery will be launched on July 25, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Robertson Library at the 糖心vlog官方入口. The book is compiled and edited by Dr. Elizabeth 鈥淏etsy鈥 Epperly, past-president of 糖心vlog官方入口 and founder of the L.M. Montgomery Institute (LMMI), who will speak about the book and sign copies. Montgomery treasures, from the LMMI and Robertson Library, will be on display. All are welcome.

Human Resources developed a new online Employee and Spouse/Dependent Tuition Waiver fillable form. These forms can be found on the main page of My糖心vlog官方入口 under 糖心vlog官方入口 Forms as well as on the Human Resources portal under Professional Development. In order to have the tuition waiver reflect your account prior to the tuition deadline, please submit all Fall 2019 Tuition Waivers via the online form no later than August 26, 2019. Please be advised Human Resources will no longer accept printed waiver forms.

In celebration of the PEI Pride Festival, July 20-31, and fifty years of accomplishment, 糖心vlog官方入口 has raised the Pride flag at the flag plaza near Kelley Memorial Building for the week. The raising of the flag recognizes that 糖心vlog官方入口 supports all of its students, faculty, and staff.

糖心vlog官方入口 will also participate in the PEI Pride Parade on July 27 in Charlottetown. For information about joining the 糖心vlog官方入口 group, please contact Treena Smith at Student Affairs at trlsmith@upei.ca

We are pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for the 2019 Atlantic Universities' Teaching Showcase, which will be held at the 糖心vlog官方入口 on Saturday, October 19.  The theme of this year's showcase is "Critical Hope and Other Academic Virtues," and we are very fortunate to have three 3M National Teaching Fellows delivering the keynote address: Dr. Lisa Dickson (UNBC), Dr. Shannon Murray (糖心vlog官方入口), and Dr. Jessica Riddell (Bishop's University).

This year is the 25th Anniversary of the first Pride Parade on PEI so bring your friends, and bring your family! Show your Pride!

The Pride Parade is on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in Charlottetown. Pride parade participants must meet on Terry Fox Drive (behind the Shaw Building, by Victoria Park) between 11:30-12:00 (noon) on Saturday, July 27. We will meet at the 糖心vlog官方入口 van. Wear lots of colour, and show your Pride. Student Affairs will be providing 糖心vlog官方入口 Pride T-Shirts to those walking in the parade! T-Shirts will be available for pick up in Student Affairs, Dalton Hall, 5th floor, after Monday, July 15 (one per person, first come first served). And if anyone would like to join in the festivities but is unable to walk the parade route, not a problem! There are some seats available in the 糖心vlog官方入口 vehicle. For information about joining the 糖心vlog官方入口 group, please contact Treena Smith at trlsmith@upei.ca

The Faculty of Education invites the public to attend Zain Esseghaier's PhD proposal presentation, entitled: The Production of Language and Culture Through Talk in a French Language Minority School.

World Hepatitis Day will be recognized on July 29 at 糖心vlog官方入口. The World Hepatitis Alliance estimates there are nearly 330 million people living with Viral Hepatitis; nearly 290 million people are unaware they have it! Unless there is a massive scale-up in screening, diagnosis, and linkage to care, viral hepatitis will continue to spread leading to an estimated 76 million new infections and 18.1 million preventable deaths from viral hepatitis by 2030.

On July 29, drop into the 糖心vlog官方入口 Health and Wellness Centre or telephone/email to make an appointment to get screened for Hepatitis B and C.  The telephone number is 902-566-0616; email address is:  healthcentre@upei.ca. We can discuss risk factors, answer your questions, and get you screened.

Please bring your PEI Health Card, other provincial health card, or proof of international insurance if you are a student. .

Eric Fournier, Director General of Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) will be at 糖心vlog官方入口 on July 23 to do a presentation to the faculties as well as one-on-one meetings for those who wish to speak with him directly.  His presentation will be in FSDE 128A at 10am.
