Students from 糖心vlog官方入口鈥檚 Kinesiology and Foods and Nutrition 4520 class are seeking participants to take part in an assessment of their fitness, nutrition and physical activity levels.
Participants must be healthy, 65 years of age or older and are able to visit the Kinesiology Teaching Lab (Steel 128) ONCE to participate in a low-intensity fitness assessment and complete several questionnaires related to nutrition and physical activity. Fitness assessments will be from 12:30 to 1:20 pm on October 7, 9, and 11.

This session is for those individuals whose research involves human blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids. Please join Mathew Larade for a brief introduction to the free digital research services offered by ACENET and Compute Canada. ACENET serves researchers across all disciplines. Services include access to high performance and big data computing, cloud, storage, consultation, training and ongoing support. The talk will consist of a brief description of the services available, before presenting several case studies, and concluding with how to get you and your research group up and running on the freely available services.
You are invited to attend this free and fun family event where they can see all kinds of demonstrations and exhibits. View a painted horse and cow; see different dog breeds during the Parade of Dog Breeds; visit some farm animals; learn how to dress for surgery, and much more. Children can bring their most loved stuffed toys for a check-up and treatment at the Teddy Bear Clinic. And they can have their faces painted and choose their favourite balloon animal.
Organized and run by AVC students, AVC Open House is one of the largest, most successful open houses in Atlantic Canada. The event is one of many activities taking place during Homecoming Weekend (upei.ca/alumni/homecoming), celebrating 糖心vlog官方入口鈥檚 50th Anniversary, September 25-28.

Maymester 2019: The Planning, Pitfalls, and Pleasures of Taking Students to Europe

This past May, Arts and Sciences faculty members took 糖心vlog官方入口 students on field schools to the UK, France, and Ireland as part of courses in English, History, Biology, and Religious Studies. In our brown-bag session, we will briefly introduce the planning and pedagogy that went into the courses, and, along with a few of our returning students, will discuss the joys and challenges of taking students abroad.

The lectures are part of a exploring new digital humanities tools and training for research and public policy.

Dr. MacDonald鈥檚 talk, , will explore the largest and first provincial-federal development initiative in post-war Canadian history.
Environmental and digital historian will present on Friday, October 4, at 8:30 am in the Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 Lecture Theatre B, 糖心vlog官方入口. Dr. Clifford is an associate professor of environmental history at the University of Saskatchewan.

Students from 糖心vlog官方入口鈥檚 Kinesiology 3430 class are seeking participants to take part in a five-week exercise training program. Students will create personalized exercise training programs for each participant, based on their fitness, skill level, and personal interests.
Participants must be between 30 and 65 years of age. The program will take place Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the Kinesiology Teaching Lab (Steel 128), beginning the week of October 7. Participants will receive a fitness test the first and last week of the program, separated by three weeks of supervised aerobic and strength training. The next performance in the 糖心vlog官方入口 Music Recital Series will feature an evening of masterworks for violin and piano. Violinist Martin Chalifour and pianist Sarah Hagen will perform together Saturday, September 21, at 7:30 pm in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, 糖心vlog官方入口 Steel Building.
Chalifour and Hagen first met at a music festival on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia and over too many cups of coffee, began scheming plans to perform together. This highly caffeinated meeting led to laughter-filled tours in BC and Washington State and an eventual recording. Their upcoming program features Beethoven鈥檚 glorious and transcendent Opus 96 Sonata, a thoughtful work which transforms both performers and listeners.
From Qu茅bec, Chalifour has been principal concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 1995. He came to wide prominence upon receiving a certificate of honour at Moscow鈥檚 International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1986, with a laureate at the Montr茅al International Musical Competition the following year. Chalifour has maintained a career as a much sought-after orchestral violinist, soloist, and chamber musician ever since. Throughout these years, he has performed a vast repertory of more than 50 concertos, spanning the world as a soloist and sharing concert stages with such notable conductors as Pierre Boulez, Andrew Davis, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Hagen, who makes her home on the south shore of PEI, enjoys a busy and diverse life touring across Canada and internationally as both a recitalist and a humorist. She won first prize in the 2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, and Artist of the Year by Ontario Contact in 2017 and the British Columbia Touring Council in 2015. Her interpretations have been described as 鈥渙utstandingly inventive鈥� by the University of Waterloo Gazette, and 鈥渨ith great sensitivity and heart,鈥� by the Vernon Morning Star.
This concert is part of the 糖心vlog官方入口 Music Department Recital Series. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. Barrier-free parking is available adjacent to the Steel Building via the driveway in front of the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre. Regular parking may be found in Lot C. All campus parking is free after 5 pm.
