BlackBoard Collaborate is web conferencing software that allows instructors to do many things to engage with their students. Use BlackBoard Collaborate to record your teaching for days when your face-to-face class has been cancelled. Share your PowerPoint or use the interactive whiteboard, BlackBoard Collaborate allows you to set up a complete virtual classroom. It鈥檚 simple, easy and reliable. Offered by the E-Learning office, this workshop will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 am in Room 265 of the Robertson Library on two separate dates: Tuesday, October 2nd and Monday, November 5th.

The 糖心vlog官方入口 Department of Modern Languages is proud to welcome its first ever French Writer-in-Residence Dominic Langlois, poet and young-adult novelist. He will lead a writing workshop on Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 pm (in 糖心vlog官方入口 Dawson Lounge, SDMB 520), and give a public reading on Thursday, September 27 at 7:30 pm (in the 糖心vlog官方入口 Faculty Lounge, SDMB 201). He will also meet with Dr. Sanda Badescu鈥檚 and Dr. Scott Lee鈥檚 students to discuss various topics related to poetry and the use of slang in French.
Dominic Langlois鈥� visit and the 糖心vlog官方入口 French Writer-in-Residency program are sponsored by the 糖心vlog官方入口 Department of Modern Languages, the Dean of Arts, the Dean of Education, the Vice-President Academic/Research, with generous support from Arts NB.

Robertson Library and the 糖心vlog官方入口 Department of Physics are celebrating Science Literacy Week, September 17 to 23, by co-sponsoring a stargazing event on Sunday, September 23 at 8:30 pm.
Megan Glover, 糖心vlog官方入口 Department of Physics, will give a presentation on navigating the night sky and how to set up and use the Library鈥檚 Dobsonian telescope. You will discover how to find objects in the sky using star maps and learn stargazing tips!
In the case of a rainy or cloudy evening, the presentation will be held inside Robertson Library.
Check out the stars @ home! You can borrow the telescope from the Service Desk in the Robertson Library with your 糖心vlog官方入口 Campus Card. The telescope can be borrowed on a 7-day loan.

Accessibility Services would like to communicate an update in positions in terms of testing accommodations. The main point of contact for test and exams in Accessibility Services will be Amanda Gallant-Squires, amangallant@upei.ca. She will be scheduling and arranging proctors for all tests and exams.
The faculty is asked to send all tests and exams (with instructions if required) directly to Amanda (amangallant@upei.ca).
Faculty will continue to address any specific questions regarding accommodations to the students' Case Managers (Nicole Wadden Garland, Michelle Dalton, or Jaclyn Borden). The Case Manager will be indicated in the accommodation letter sent to Faculty. Amanda will only be coordinating testing with Accessibility Services.

Calling all dog owners! Do you have a well-behaved, pure-bred or a recognized mixed breed (labradoodle- or cockapoo-type) dog? Consider entering your dog in the Parade of Dog Breeds at the 2018 AVC Open House on Saturday, September 29, from 10 am to 2 pm!
AVC Open House is a fun event for people of all ages鈥攁 chance for us to showcase our College to the public! And the Parade of Dog Breeds at 12 noon is a great way for people to learn about different breeds.

Keep your eyes peeled--the 糖心vlog官方入口 Co-operative Education program will be selling potatoes across campus the week of September 17-21 for 糖心vlog官方入口鈥檚 first ever Potato Roll.
What is a potato roll?
Just what it sounds like鈥攖he potato that rolls the farthest distance down the hill wins half of the money from the potato sales for its owner. The other half of the money raised will be donated to the 糖心vlog官方入口 Campus Food Bank.
How to be a 鈥減artici-tater鈥�?
Potatoes can be purchased for $2 each from Co-op students. On Friday, October 5 at noon the potatoes will roll! You鈥檙e welcome to be a spec-tater at the roll, but it is optional. Winners who are not present will be contacted via the contact information they wrote on their potato at the time of purchase.

The Faculty Development Office at 糖心vlog官方入口 invites new and experienced faculty members to participate in the annual Teaching Mentorship Program. In this program, each interested new faculty member is matched with an experienced member of the 糖心vlog官方入口 faculty. This informal mentorship program offers a rewarding experience with very little commitment of time.
New faculty members can benefit tremendously from casual interaction with seasoned teachers and researchers, who in turn will also enjoy and profit from the experience. Environmental Studies Program and Robertson Library Talks invite the members of the 糖心vlog官方入口 community to participate in the Environmental Studies Book Club discussion series. The aim of the Environmental Studies Book Club series is to facilitate the campus-wide discussion about various environmental issues, and provide an informal learning opportunity to university students.
This fall we will be reading Justin Farrell鈥檚 book Battle for Yellowstone: Morality and the Sacred Roots of Environmental Conflict (2015). Farrell鈥檚 book is an illuminating and engaging account of environmental conflicts that have been raging in the iconic Yellowstone National Park for the past two centuries. 鈥淭he Battle for Yellowstone asks why it is that, with the flood of expert scientific, economic, and legal efforts to resolve disagreements over Yellowstone, there is no improvement? Why do even seemingly minor issues erupt into impassioned disputes? What can Yellowstone teach us about the worsening environmental conflicts worldwide?鈥� ()
The discussion series will be of interest to anybody who would like to exchange opinions and learn more about the history and present day of nature conservation, conflict over natural resources, discourses and narratives about nature, and the role of spirituality and values in shaping human-environment interaction.
