The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach a graduate level Indigenous Worldviews course in the newly launched Master of Cleantech Leadership and Transformation (MCLT) program. This course will be offered in the Winter 2026 semester.
Housed in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the MCLT is an innovative transdisciplinary graduate program that aims to educate and cultivate transformative leaders who bridge traditional and emerging knowledge systems and drive cleantech innovation for a sustainable future. As such, this course explores the integration of Indigenous Knowledges with Western Knowledges, and the instructor will work with ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú’d Faculty of IKERAS and Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú (ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú) is located on Epekwitk, part of the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaw nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which recognize Mi'kmaw title and establish the ongoing relationship between the Mi'kmaw nation and the Crown. We are all treaty people.
ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú is recognized as a leading, innovative center of excellence in learning, teaching, scholarship, and research. While it is strongly connected to the vibrant social and cultural environment of Prince Edward Island, it enjoys a reputation that extends far beyond the Island’s shores. The IKERAS faculty has strong ties to the local Indigenous communities on and off reserve. CLT 6203 - Indigenous Worldviews of Environmental Sustainability (3 Credits)
This graduate-level course discusses Indigenous worldview and philosophy to respond to the impacts of climate change. It explores the integration of Indigenous Knowledges with Western Knowledges to advance unique approaches to island and global environmental sustainability in the context of climate change.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants will have a minimum master’s degree with an avid interest in actively supporting students’ intellectual development and learning competencies in inquiry. In addition, applicants must be well versed in capturing oral and written stories of Elders and Knowledge Keepers by traditional and respectful means. The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Faculty of IKERAS emphasizes experiential learning in teaching Indigenous pedagogies and scholarship. In addition, we value candidates with strong academic qualifications, traditional knowledge, leadership in reconciliation, and direct Indigenous lived experience.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù·½Èë¿Ú Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
