Public Lecture: Decolonizing Education and Affirming Mi'kmaw Rights, October 2

Leading Indigenous scholars Dr. Marie Battiste and Dr. J.Y. (Sa鈥檏e鈥檍) Henderson will each present a keynote talk at 糖心vlog官方入口 on Monday, October 2 beginning at 6:30 pm in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium, Room 242, Don and Marion McDougall Hall. The lecture is open to the public. 

In her talk, 鈥淒ecolonizing Education: Indigenizing the Academy鈥, Dr. Battiste will speak about the importance of decolonizing our teaching practices and our curriculum in schools and universities, and what that involves. 

Dr. Henderson鈥檚 talk, 鈥淎ffirming Mi鈥檏maw Treaty, Human Rights and Humanity,鈥 will explore what was involved-- and what was compromised-- in the drafting and passage of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
